Buckle up babes. We’re going on an emotional rollercoaster. As always with any books, check the trigger warnings!!! I’m just going to dive right into the first book. I’m too excited to share these!
Haunting Adeline & Hunting Adeline by H.D. Carlton
A little funny story about these books… This is how my neighbor and I became BEST FRANDS! She threw me off the heavy and smutty deep end and HERE WE ARE! We now require this duet to be read if you want to join our book club… Yeah… It’s that kind of book club.
This duet is definitely dark and smutty, but HOLY COW. I sat there and cried like a baby at the end of the first book. Thank gosh I had the second book on hand and ready to roll.
Without giving too much away, this is a cat and mouse duet and deals with some pretty heavy subjects such as trafficking (amongst other things). I think what got to me most is the fact that this is a work of fiction YET it is happening in the world to so many people as we speak.
ACOTAR by Sarah J. Maas
So, these books are not INCREDIBLY smutty, but they are what reignited my passion for reading! Thanks to my lovely friend, Karina, for getting me absolutely hooked. The first book… meh… not in a sense that it wasn’t good (it was the best thing since sliced bread when I first read it), but now that I know what the other four books in the series contain… WHEW! Those last four really get to you.
This amazing series is for all of you fantasy lovers out there! I know when I was growing up, I was all about Twilight, The Hunger Games, and sooooooo many more! Yes, I am Team Carlisle… I used to be Team Edward but let’s be real. He’s immature. This series brought back all the feelings I had when I read books as a child and teen… Just with a touch more smut WINK WINK.
Penpal by J.T. Geissinger
I’m definitely not normally a paranormal girl HOWEVER, this book made me feel so many things. My emotions were all over the place and yours will be too! J.T. Geissinger knocks it out of the flippin’ park my friends. The one thing I can say that this author is good for is twists and turns at the very. Last. Second. You think you have it all figured out and then BAM! She slaps you across the face with something you never saw coming. Which leads me to my next book…
Perfect Strangers by J.T. Geissinger
Ugh. I can’t even. Now that I’m writing this post, this book should have been first on my list. I have tears in my eyes just writing this and thinking back to when I first read the book. This was one of the first few books I read when I got back into reading and I can remember almost every detail.
It is about a woman who needs to get away from a failed relationship and take a hiatus abroad. Then she meets him. *CHILLS* Good golly Miss Molly. The spice is amazing AND once again, you never see the ending coming. I BAWLED.
Say You Swear by Meagan Brandy
The connections I felt to the characters in this book is what had me so emotionally attached. The author does a phenomenal job at character development and not to mention does a fantastic job with creating a lot sexual tension between them. This is definitely a ‘young love” kind of story as the main characters are starting their first year in college. Because of this, the smut is not anything heavy, but it definitely has a detailed storyline. I recommend this to anyone that is looking for a good entry level smutty book, but be aware… You will cry.
Overall, I know I technically said five books BUT I actually gave you 10. LOL! If you are not an avid smutty book reader, I would go in order of Say You Swear, ACOTAR, Penpal, Perfect Strangers, and then Haunting & Hunting Adeline. That last one is a doozy.
